Kay Carmichael

Kay Carmichael is a comic book and graphic novel author, who also works as a story artist specialising in storyboard work for animated and live action television series and feature films. While working on shows and films like Supa Strikas, Northmen, and Moosebox (view her full filmography), she began independently developing two incredible stories. The first, Sophie the Giantslayer is a black-and-white adventure comic series about a little girl fighting giants (read a few snippets for free). The second story has recently been signed by Imagnary House for development into a comic serial: Troll Girl. 

 

Troll Girl tells the story of a trollish child, raised by a nun in a human village, defies her own insecurities and the villagers' fears to save her mother from danger. After Carmichael developed the concept, she worked with Triggerfish Animation Studios and the National Film and Video Foundation to produce a 9-minute animated short, introducing the story and characters that will soon capture the page.
