A Book Our World Needs

There is so much to love about this book. It's supremely unique. As a Mom and educator, I have come across many books on emotional intelligence for children, but none like this one. In the age in which we live, we all need reminding to slow down and to listen, not just to what is around us, but perhaps more importantly, to what is inside of us. Imagine if children were taught to do just this from a young age? If this were the case, surely the world of tomorrow would be a better place. If you're hunting for the resource that can make this happen, then 'Listen to Your Diddalum' is the treasure you've been looking for. The simple yet sophisticated layout is so cleverly thought-through, with lots of space to think and talk. How well this compliments the notion of slowing down! Every sentence is meaningful and every picture inspires a conversation with your little one. My twins - nearly five years old - are intrigued by every picture. "This uncle must be having a bad day," and "Maybe these two are falling in love", they interpret their own meaning. With several pages, their fingers spontaneously reach for the Diddalum and track over its flow or bounce or swirl or whoosh. What a lovely kinesthetic way to experience an emotion. I love the way their litte hands can hold this perfect size paperback so comfortably. And I love that all kinds of ages and ethnicities are represented. Because everyone, everwhere, needs to listen more and listen better to their Diddalum.
